Standup Comedian
In an interview, Ravi Gupta talked about his inspiration to start doing standup comedy and said that he was working as an illustrator in corporate companies in 2015 but he was not happy with the work as he found the work very monotonous and did not give him satisfaction. He saw interviews of many actors on television who often promoted theatre; however, Ravi was not good at acting and did not consider that as an alternative career option.
He once saw a standup comedians Zakir Khan and Amit Tandon and got interested in doing standup comedy. Ravi sent a message to Zakir Khan on Instagram who replied to him and encouraged him to follow his passion. Though Ravi did not quit his job, he started doing standup comedy during the evening at bars and clubs while working at his job during the day.
He later also started uploading standup comedy videos on social media platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. He gradually became famous for his videos and has done many shows and tours of various cities in India. Ravi Gupta is praised for his observational comedy as he often takes inspiration from various life situations and also uses the local slang of Uttar Pradesh in his jokes. In February 2022, he also appeared on the Good Night India TV show broadcasted on Sony SAB, hosted by Amit Tandon and Jiya Shankar.
