Shail Chaturvedi

Shail Chaturvedi (1936 – 2007) was an Indian Hindi satirist, humorist, lyricist, and poet. He appeared in several Bollywood movies, and TV series, like Uphaar (1971), Chitchor (1976), Chameli Ki Shaadi (1986), Kareeb (1998), and many more.

Career

Shail Chaturvedi began his career as a lecturer at Allahabad University, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. With his keen interest in poetry, he started taking part in several Kavi Sammelan, and did humorous political commentary. He was known as Hasya Kavi of the 1970s-80s. He was often featured in the annual Kavi Sammelan that aired on Doordarshan on Holi every year. He also acted in a number of Hindi films and TV series as well.

Death

On Monday, 29 October 2007, Shail Chaturvedi passed away at his Malad residence in the early hours of the morning due to chronic renal failure and other ailments.
