Raj Limbani was born on Wednesday, 2 February 2005 (age 19 years; as of 2024) in Dayapar village in Lakhpat taluka of Kachchh district in Gujarat, India. His zodiac sign is Aquarius. He studied till the 7th standard at an English medium school situated around 45 km from his village.

In 2017, he moved to Vadodara where he lived with his paternal uncle, Manilal Patel, who works for Gujarat Electricity Board and lived in Vadodara since 2010. He trained at Motibaug Cricket Club which produced the Pathan brothers (Yusuf and Irfan), then the Pandya brothers (Krunal and Hardik) and Deepak Hooda and trained under coach Digvijay Singh Rathwa.

Domestic

In 2021, he played for Baroda Under-16 and won the G1 tournament. He later played for Baroda Under-19 team and gave many wonderful performances. In the 2022/23 Cooch Behar Trophy, he took 31 wickets in 6 matches and in the 2022/23 Vinoo Mankad Trophy, he took 8 wickets in 5 matches. In June 2023, he attended a high-performance camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru.

International

India Under-19

In December 2023, he was selected for the India Under-19 team and played in the tri-series against South Africa Under-19 and Afghanistan Under-19. In a match against Nepal Under-19 during the 2023 Under-19 Asia Cup, he took 7 wickets for 13 runs.

He played in the 2024 Under-19 World Cup held in South Africa and took 11 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 16.54 and a strike rate of 25.63; his best performance of the tournament came in the final against Australia Under-19 with 3 wickets for 38 runs.

Jersey Number

He wore jersey number 1 while playing for India Under-19 in the 2024 Under-19 World Cup.

• Limbani’s coach, Digvijay Singh Rathwa, was impressed him during their first meeting in the Under-16 camp as unlike many cricketers, Limbani kept a diary to write down his progress and aims. He told Rathwa that he first wanted to play for Under-16, then he wanted to attend the camp in NCA in the first year of his Under-19, then he wanted to play the U-19 World Cup, followed by first-class cricket for Baroda, then India A and represent India’s senior team at last.

• His favourite bowlers are Dale Steyn and Jasprit Bumrah.

• His bowling speeds are usually around 135 kph (84 mph), with maximum speed clocked at 141 kph (88mph).

• Before 2023, Limbani’s strength was an outswinger delivery; however, he also learnt the art of inswinger delivery while training under his coach Digvijay Singh Rathwa in 2023.
