Nirmal Kakar was born on Wednesday, 27 March 1963 (age 60 years; as of 2023) in New Delhi. Her zodiac sign is Aries. She did her schooling at Salwan Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi. In 2023, Nirmal appeared in the music series ‘Big Band Theory’ with her daughters and sang the song ‘Maavan Te Dheeyan.’ The song is about the relationship between a mother and a daughter. In an interview, Nirmal said that this was a very emotional journey for them.

The series also features Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan, Sukriti Kakkar, Prakriti Kakkar, Nirmal Kakkar, Nikita Gandhi, Shashwat, Romy, Siddharth Mahadevan, and Shivam Mahadevan. On 28 May 2023, the team of the series appeared on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show.’ On the show, her daughter Akriti talked about the series and said,

It was difficult at first, but the goal was to make Big Band Theory happen, and gradually, everyone started coming together. When I called Shankar ji, he sensed my nervousness and said he wouldn’t ask what it was about, but his answer was a definite ‘yes’. After agreeing to be a part of it, he learned about the idea.”

She did her graduation in Hindustani vocal music after which she started working as a music teacher at Bal Bharti Public School, Pusa Road, New Delhi. After working there for some time, she moved to Mumbai with her husband and daughters.

Her elder daughter Akriti is popular for her singing songs including “Saturday Saturday” from the film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and “Iski Uski” from 2 States (2014). She appeared as a judge on Zee Bangla’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: Li’l Champs (2014).

Her twin daughters are also singers. Her daughter Sukriti is known for recording the title song from the film ‘Boss’ (2013) composed by Meet Bros which featured Honey Singh and her daughter Prakriti is popular for releasing songs in collaboration with Ankit Tiwari including “Katra Katra” from Alone (2015) and “Bheegh Loon” from Khamoshiyan (2015). The twin sisters Sukriti and Prakriti released independent music videos like “Sudhar Ja”, “Mafiyaan”, “Kehndi Haa Kehndi Naa”, “Hum Tum”, “Sona Lagda”, and “Majnu”.

In an interview, Nirmal revealed that she and her eldest brother had a huge age difference because of which she used to take him to the parents-teacher meeting in her school calling him her father.

Her elder daughter Akriti talked about Nirmal in an interview and she said that she had OCD. In the interview, she further said that Nirmal was careless when it come t taking care of herself but is always busy taking care of the family.
