Kate Bedingfield is an American political advisor who was appointed as the White House director of communications in Joe Biden’s administration. Earlier she served as the deputy campaign manager for the 2020 presidential campaign of Joe Biden. She is also the former communications director for Joe Biden when he was vice president under Barack Obama.

Kate Bedingfield was born as Katherine Joan Bedingfield [1]The New York Times in 1982 (age 39 years; as of 2021), and she hails from Sandy Springs, Georgia. She did her schooling at the Sandy Springs Charter Middle School, and later, she attended Riverwood International Charter School in Atlanta, Georgia. Bedingfield lived near Chattahoochee River, Atlanta, and she grew up playing softball and doing gymnastics. In an interview, while sharing her childhood memories, she said,
We lived right along the Chattahoochee River…We used to go to the national park there on the river, the National Recreation Area, and walk the dogs and play in the river. I remember playing softball at Morgan Falls (Park) and doing gymnastics at Hammond Park.”

Career
In 2006, Bedingfield served as the regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington, D.C. Thereafter, she worked as the spokesperson during the 2008 presidential campaign of John Edwards. In 2008, she also served as communications director for the senate campaign for Jeanne Shaheen. In May 2013, Bedingfield held the position of the spokesperson and vice president of corporate communications at the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). In 2015, Bedingfield became the communications director for then-Vice President Joe Biden. During the presidency of Barack Obama, Bedingfield was appointed as the director of response and deputy director of media affairs. Thereafter, she served as the deputy campaign manager for the 2020 presidential campaign of Joe Biden. On January 20, 2021, she was designated as the White House director of communications in Joe Biden’s administration.
