During a school Kabaddi tournament, where Akash was playing, the Brahma Sports Club President was impressed by his skills and made him a member of the club. There, Akash improved his kills and worked on his game. In 2019, he won the District Champion title in the Youth Team Selection Trial Tournament, organised by the Nashik District Kabaddi Association. In 2020, he was selected for the Nashik District Team at the Maharashtra State Youth Team Selection Trial Tournament.

In 2020, Akash Shinde represented Maharashtra State at the National Kabaddi Tournament 2019-20 held in Rohtak, Haryana. He became the top scorer for the state of Maharashtra. Later, he was selected for the Indian team’s training camp for the Junior Asian Championship.
