Controversies

Meraj-ur-Rehman, a writer in the Indian film industry claimed Manyata as his wife allegedly. According to Meraj, he got married to her in 2003 and also has a son from her, who is living in Dubai with Manyata’s relatives. As per his statement, she married Sanjay Dutt without divorcing Meraj.

In 1981, Kumar’s father Rajendra Kumar launched him in the movie ‘Love Story,’ which proved a blockbuster.  In 1982, his next film Teri Kasam with actress Poonam Dhillon also came out successful. In the same year, he acted as Dev Kumar Verma opposite Rati Agnihotri or Maya in the movie ‘Star,‘ which couldn’t do well at the box office, but its’ music got popular.

In 2000, he appeared in director Mazhar Khan’s movie Gang. Then, in 2002, Manoj acted in the film Kaante directed by Sanjay Gupta. It was a remake of the Hollywood film Reservoir Dogs (1992). This film touched the heights of the sky and became a third-highest-grossing film of 2002.

In 2017, a Mumbai-based writer Mallika Rajput accused Bhayyuji of cheating her. According to her, when she met him for the first time, he asked her to write a book on his life. She accepted the offer and after writing his biography, she gave 950 copies of that book to Bhayyuji. Mallika claimed that he didn’t release her book and even not returned those copies to her. However, Yuva Rashtra Sant described it a vague information, and the trust didn’t give clearance to the book.

Manu came into limelight with the movies- ‘1942: A Love Story’ (1994), directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and ‘Bombay’ (1995), a Tamil drama directed by Mani Ratnam. In the same year, she appeared in a romantic musical film ‘Akele Hum Akele Tum’ as an ignored wife, who became a popular star after leaving her husband. In 1996, she played the role of a battered wife of a mentally ill husband in the Hindi drama movie ‘Agni Sakshi.‘ This movie proved one of the biggest hits of that year at the Indian box office.

In December 2022, the Kolkata Police summoned Paresh Rawal for remarks he made about Bengalis during a Gujarat election campaign. He said,

Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?”

After completing her graduation, Ved decided to start her career from modelling. Gradually, she entered into the film industry and made her debut with the Tamil film ‘Madrasi’ in 2006. Her initial movies in other languages are ‘Vijayadasami‘ (Telugu) in 2007, ‘Sangama‘ (Kannada) in 2008 and ‘Sringaravelan‘ (Malayalam) in 2013.

• In her debut Malayalam film ‘Sringaravelan’ in 2013, during a shoot, she was acting as struggling in water with the support of a concrete wall. But accidentally, the wall collapsed, and she actually was about to drown in the water; when an assistant from the unit dived into the water and saved her timely.
