Sagarika was born on 8 January 1986 (38 years old; age as of 2023) in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. She shot to fame after her portrayal of the role of ‘Preeti Sabharwal’ in the sports drama ‘Chak De! India’ starring alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Not only did she appear in Bollywood movies, but she has also marked her presence in reality shows. Not many are aware of the fact the reel-life hockey player is also a real-life national level hockey player.
Sagarika also appeared in numerous fashion shows and magazines.

Sagarika belongs to a royal family as Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur is her forefather. She was born to Vijaysinh Ghatge and Urmila Ghatge. Her grandmother Sita Raje Ghatge is the daughter of Maharaja Tukojirao Holkar III of Indore. She has a brother, Shivjeet Ghatge who works as an account executive in a private company.

Vijayendra Ghatge who is famous for her roles in the movie Chitchor (1976) and Devdas (2002) is her uncle (dad’s cousin).
She has been dating the famous Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan to whom she got engaged on 24 April 2017 and got married on 23 November 2017.

Career
Sagarika did her schooling at Mayo College Girl’s School, a boarding school in Ajmer, Rajasthan, India and her graduation from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, India. During her school days, she took part in several sports competitions. She is also a national level hockey player. After completing her studies, she started working as a model and did many modelling assignments. As she is a great hockey player, she got the chance to play the role of “Preeti Sabharwal,’ a member of the Indian women hockey team, in the famous Bollywood film Chak De! India (2007). Since then there has been no looking back for her. She became the brand ambassador of a global athletic footwear & apparel company Reebok India.

In 2012, she got a lead role of Ahana Sharma in the Bollywood film Rush but the film did not go well. Sagarika was, then, cast in the lead role in Marathi film Premachi Goshta (2013).

Sagarika Ghatge made her debut in the Punjabi film industry with the movie ‘Dildariyaan’ in 2015.
