Riya Sen Dev Varma is the daughter of famous actress Moon Moon Sen and granddaughter of the yesteryear star Suchitra Sen. Raima Sen is her sister. Suchitra Sen was an established Bengali and Hindi film actress. Riya began her career in the glamour world as a child artist in 1991 in the movie, Vishkanya as young Nishi. She shot to fame with a low-budget Bollywood movie Style which released in 2001. Riya Sen is also well-known for her roles in the movies, Jhankaar Beats and Shaadi No. 1. She was recognised as a model at the age of 16. Besides being an actress, she has appeared as a model in the commercials for many popular brands. Moreover, Riya Sen is also a philanthropist and raised awareness for AIDS.

Riya Sen is 5′ 1″ tall and weighs around 50 kilos. Her figure measurements are 32-26-34. She has dark-brown eyes and her hair are black in colour.

Riya Sen was born on 21 January 1981 (37 years) in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Her father is Bharat Dev Varma and her mother is the famous actress as well as the politician, Moon Moon Sen. Moon Moon Sen is a TMC (Trinamool Congress) member of Parliament from Bankura, West Bengal constituency. Her father belongs to the royal family of Tripura. Raima Sen is her sister.

Suchitra Sen is her maternal grandmother.

Riya Sen has been rumoured to date many actors in the past. Her name has been linked with actors John Abraham and Ashmit Patel.

She was rumoured to be in a relationship with the Novelist Salman Rushdie.

Career

Riya Sen completed her schooling from Loreto House, Kolkata and graduation from Rani Birla Girls’ College, Kolkata. Riya also is a certified fashion designer and did a Course in Fashion Designing from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. Riya Sen made her first on-screen appearance in 1991 as a child artist in the Bollywood film Vishkanya as Young Nishi. Riya Sen has worked in diverse cinema from Hindi to Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, English, Telugu, and Oriya.

At the age of 16, Riya got the recognition as a model from Falguni Pathak‘s music video Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi in 1998.

Her Tamil debut was in the year 1999, Taj Mahal as Machakanni.

In the year 2001, she made her Bollywood debut with the movie Style. In the same year, Riya Sen got a break in the Bengali cinema with the movie Mone Pore Tomake.

In 2005, she appeared in a Malayalam movie Anandhabhadram and a Hollywood movie It Was Raining That Night.

Riya Sen made her Telugu debut with the movie Nenu Meeku Telusa…? in the year 2008.
