Kalengada Bhemaiah Chinapa aka Nikhil Chinapa is an Indian disco jockey, radio jockey, video jockey, and an actor. He is known for judging the youth-based reality TV show “Roadies.”

As his father served in the Indian army, Nikhil spent his childhood in various cities. He did his schooling from Begumpet’s Hyderabad Public School, Hyderabad, Faust High School, Secundrabad, and St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Bangalore. After which, he went to St. George’s College, Agra to pursue Bachelor of Architecture. Nikhil also attended BMS College Of Engineering, Bangalore. He was very active in his childhood and always participated in the co-curricular activities in his school and college days.

Nikhil Chinapa belongs to a Hindu Family. He is the son of Lt. Col. Bhemaiah Chinapa, the Indian Army Paratrooper and Ganga Chinapa. He has a brother, Nitish, and sister-in-law, Sarita.

Nikhil Chinapa dated Pearl Miglani, a Disco Jockey, for 6 years before tying the knot with her in 2012. The couple is blessed with a girl, Anouka Maia Chinapa.

Career

Nikhil Chinapa started his career as a VJ in 1992 with “MTV Select.” Subsequently, he hosted the popular weekly show titled “Together” on the Sunday nights on www.tgtr.in.

Nikhil made his film debut in 2000 with the Hindi film “Snip.” Next, he made small appearances in films like “Dus” (2005), “Zinda” (2006), and “Om Shanti Om” (2007). He has hosted and judged various shows including “Fame X” alongside Ganesh Hegde and Daler Mehendi, 2 seasons of “India’s Got Talent” along with Ayushmann Khurrana, and “MTV Rock On.”

He solo-hosted the season 2, 4, 5 of “MTV Splitsvilla” and co-hosted season 3 with Deepti Gujaral, season 6 with Sherlyn Chopra and season 7 with Sunny Leone. Nikhil was the festival director of Asia’s premier music festival “Sunburn” in Goa. He has also appeared as a judge on the youth-based reality show “Roadies.”

In 2014, Nikhil collaborated with the Indian online fashion brand “Koovs.com.”

Chinapa owns a music company called “Submerge Music” that promotes upcoming events and DJ’s in Mumbai, Banglore, and Delhi. His company is known for introducing the most prominent DJ’s to the country such as Above & Beyond, Swedish House Mafia, Alesso, Deniz Koyu, Armin Van Buuren, Zedd, Hardwell, and Tiesto.

We’ve lost count – seriously we have. It’s now finally time to launch something that’s been in the pipeline for a few years. Our own record label – Submerge Music (what else?) The label will initially focus on the underground spectrum of house music and has releases lined up from @man5tagram / Ajman, Browncoat (@nawedkhan_) and @tuhinmehta. We launch on 11-11 this year.
